Yes, parenting can be quite difficult when we are young, first time parents and do not quite know what we are doing. As hard as it may seem at times, try to remember that when you’re older, you’ll almost certainly look back fondly on these days. What’s tragic is when real damage to the relationship between parents and children occurs.

It can be extremely difficult to reconcile with a grown child who’s become estranged from you. No matter what mistakes you’ve made in the past, though, it’s always possible to do better in the future if you make a real effort. Just because you got off to a rough start doesn’t mean you can’t turn things around. By the way, we picked up much of this information through the bedwetting problems we worked through with our last child.

Let’s face it. Being a parent isn’t easy.

When our kids are very young, we need to establish a structured environment for them to grow up in. The easiest way to help children understand what they can and cannot do is by providing this early structure within their lives. Under any other name, limitations and structure for the children are virtually the same. Toddlers are at an age where they are continuously testing not only the environment around them but also you. These children will test you by doing certain activities in order to get a reaction. This is a very trying time because children will test you everyday and it can become physically and emotionally draining. As you can see, structure within the home is something that is essential in order to raise your toddler the right way.

Take the initiative and make the effort to establish limits with your children in the most appropriate ways. This way, there’s none of the doubts or insecurity that can occur when there’s not enough structure. We are also talking about boundaries that must be clearly communicated and reinforced as positively as possible. You can hope that your children will respect these limits, but you realistically have to expect that this won’t always be the case. It’s best if you simply recognize that this is going to happen from time to time when you have children. Then, once your boundaries and limits are in place, then be consistent with them and have the personal discipline to enforce them.

An important parenting skill is to be aware of how your children are doing each day, at school, and noticing how they are feeling. If your child’s behavior begins to change, including becoming less sociable, you need to find out how they are doing in case something is wrong. When that happens, it is easy to assume all is well just because they are being seen and not heard. So do not ignore what they are doing or any other kind of behavior that are against the rules of the house. More times than not, the parents that fail ignore the obvious signs that they should have seen which could have stopped something bad from happening. Many times, teenagers will get confused and forget that rules and boundaries do exist, something that parents need to remind them of from time to time.

As a parent, understand that your job includes all of the trials and tribulations that your children will put you through which is a test of your merit. The proper way to handle these difficult moments is to relax and stick to the basics.

Last but not least, be sure to look over this bedwetting site and this resource on bedwetting treatments.
