You are a parent looking to buy a baby monitor, but it turned out to not be as not as easy as it looks! Since we have so many technological advances in our world today, we now have so many options available to us to choose from, such as the size, functions, features, and even style! In fact, now there are so many different shapes, sizes, styles, functions, brands, and prices to wrap your head around, and you may be surprised to know that there are monitors which can give you full audio and video surveillance, and some can be wired to your home, and others have multiple receivers. BUT, before you go ripping your hair out trying to choose one, all you need to do is take a deep breath and use these tips to help you figure out what you REALLY need.
Obviously price is going to play a major role in making your decision. It should not, however, be the only criteria that you use when you go shopping. The best way to use pricing to help you choose today is to look at how many features you get for what price. Keep in mind that a system chosen solely because it is the “cheapest” may have a higher chance of malfunctioning, which is not a risk you want to be taking with your baby either. In the end, the most important thing is that you weigh out all of the options and features you will be getting for the cost.
Another key factor which you need to consider is how much you actually want to be able to keep track of, when you are not in the room. Some baby monitors only keep track of the sounds, whilst others will tell you if there is any motion in the room. Other systems come equipped with video recording capabilities that also include audio- much like the video surveillance systems you could find in a department store. How much do you want to be able to see and hear? Remember that if you do not choose the “all out, all gadgets, expensive” system, that does not make you a bad parent, because at the end of the day, you simply need to be finding a system which can monitor your baby as you need it to.
How extensive do you need your system to be? If you don’t have that much space, you may not be able to get more extensive systems, and if you live in a small home a single receiver or base station might be better. In larger homes or homes in which lots of people are around to help, having multiple receivers might be a good idea. If you are in fact thinking about getting a multiple receiver, consider getting one that has the feature of both inbound and outbound communication. Also, if you choose to have more than one receiver, it will allow you to monitor more than one child consecutively, and you also won’t have to worry about always carrying it around with you. In the end, you need to narrow down your choices so that you can choose a baby monitor which will work effectively in your home and one which will also monitor your baby effectively. You really just need to decide on a system which will be the most effective for your home and family; from shape/size, to the cost, to the actual capabilities of the monitoring system itself! In the end, it’s important to know what you want and need from all aspects, so that you can find the right monitor for you and your family.
