Music is such a beautiful thing. Everybody has some favorite songs possessing a special meaning to them. It could be the song you had your first kiss on. The track that was played on your first birthday. The song that played in the shop when you got your first maternity bra (zwangerschapslingerie in Dutch). Or the favorite song of your now dead dad. These songs stick with you for your whole life. They are real when you hear them and some can even give you goosebumps. In a way they're engrained in your entire being.
Did you ever hear a friend say you should play Mozart’s music when your baby is still in your belly? Or heard a tale from a chum where they spotted their baby reacting to certain songs while she carried it? This is down to the fact that music is so special and is one of the first things that may cause feelings apart from hunger and discomfort. You might not do your kid a better favor then to discover early on what music they like and play it for them a lot! Not only will it keep them contented, if they’ve a concealed musical talent you can be sure it is going to surface early!
My very own daughter had a special liking for jazz. Not because she went to a concert where they played all the classics but because it is the only style of music she has heard from before she was born. Now that she is three she’d rather hear Micheal Buble and Sinatra than some of those hideous high pitched children songs! Thank the Lord for that.
Another thing that is developed with an early exposure to music is a good sense of rhythm. Those little hips will start to sway before they have even the slightest notion of what dancing is. It’d seem like a dancing monkey in her early years, nonetheless it will quickly evolve into actual rhythmic dancing!
Do your youngsters a favour and play them music, lot’s of it!
