Getting a reiki attunement will connect you to a particular energy and is part of a process with in a system. What is this energy? Can it be measured at the source? Or during the transfer? No, but it can be measured at the result, where it ends up. Studies have been confirmed that changes in the receiver of the reiki attunement or session have happened.

The material we see in our reality does not even exist on the spiritual level. The zero-point field where waves come out and collapse into atoms or material things is how Quantum Physics explains this spiritual level.
Apparently this is actually were all of material reality comes from. Mathematically it boils down to zero like the big bang, or birth place of the universe. This leads to the ultimate mystery as zero can not be calculated and thus can not be known.
How energy and material reality comes into being can not be known as it too reduces to zero.
Reiki does appear to be energy on the physical level I suppose as when a reiki master becomes the channel for the reiki energy and both the giver and the receiver feel tingling and warmth.
In terms of the spiritual level it is more likely a rearrangement of reality. Our true essential nature is perfect at the source, and so we are becoming perfect again. The source can be called unconditional love too. During a reiki attunement or session this translates into a rearrangement of atoms.
Is Creation essentially perfection? Yes. All the intricate parts of creation, all that has ever been, or will ever be exist right now. I think connecting to it again can been done through a reiki attunement. Its all about becoming like god, which is perfection.
