Commercial shaved ice machines can be purchased if you intend to go retail. If you have a few neighborhood kids stopping by regularly to play or to purchase their lemonade, you’ll have to switch from a machine suited for home operations to a commercial grade one
.
You can also decide to have two small machines running side by side. The objective is to create ice cones for more than a dozen kids. Your machine right now might be small but if you have an extra blade, you can easily use it to serve shaved ice to a party.
Here are some more recommendations for you if you want to use commercial shaved ice machine:
1. Residual Ice Issues
A more heavy duty machine can be a dream come true, but only if you know what to do with all the residual ice it produces. It’s better to have handy plastic containers where you can keep the ice for later use.
2. Use ice of the right size.
If you put in ice cubes that are in the right size, you can maximize the use of your commercial ice machine. Bulky ice cuts can hamper your operation. You will also risk melting the bigger ice chunks and turning the sliced ice into mush if you use big sized ice. A good shaved ice machine should make it easier for you to place small ice cubes in the chute. For best results use ordinary ice cubes that came right out of your freezer.
3. Ice Jamming
Your machine is supposed to work at light speed because it is more heavy duty than the regular machines. Streamlining your operations is one of the crucial parts, but only if you did all that you can to prevent the machine from jamming. You can prevent jamming by arranging the ice nicely. You may also need to adjust the arrangement as the machine works. Throwing ice haphazardly inside can jam the machine.
4. Shaved Not Crushed
Sometimes, it’s easy to say you have a shaved ice machine but what you really have is an ice crusher. There’s a difference between shaved and crushed ice, and this is obvious with the way the ice melts. Crushed ice melts faster and it takes a watery form as soon as you scoop it up. It is also easier to add flavor to shaved ice than crushed ice.
5. Adding Flavor
In addition to being well designed, your commercial shaved ice machine must be able to allow flavoring while shaving the ice. Some ice machines have a separate reservoir for flavoring so that you only need to squirt the flavored syrup in and watched flavored ice get dispensed out of the machine.
